Todos já ouvimos contos de fadas de príncipes e princesas quando éramos crianças. Qual a menina que não quis ser Cinderela – a jovem pobre e desprezada que é amada por um príncipe, o qual se casa com ela e a leva para morar num castelo, felizes para sempre. Em 1982 essa história parecia se tornar realidade. Uma jovem e bonita professora de jardim de infância tornava-se esposa do Príncipe de Wales.
Um passado igual ao de muitas jovens
Muitas jovens se identificaram com ela. Vinda de um lar desfeito, com problemas de timidez e insegurança, Diana era a imagem daquilo que muitas mulheres trazem dentro de si. Seu casamento com um Príncipe parecia um conto de fadas. Milhares de mulheres em todo o mundo viam nela a concretização de seus sonhos.
Traída, assim como muitas mulheres
Logo um outro grupo de mulheres podia se identificar com ela – aquelas que um dia foram traídas e desprezadas por seus próprios maridos. E à medida que o tempo passava, mais mulheres iam se identificando com ela: as deprimidas, as enfermas, as que buscavam um amor sincero. E quando Diana encontrou um novo amor, parecia estar realizando não apenas seu próprio sonho, mas o de milhares de mulheres que gostariam de estar em seu lugar.
Uma luz no fim do túnel
À semelhança de milhares de suas admiradoras, Diana sempre acabava encontrando uma luz no fim dos escuros túneis por onde passou e sempre saía mais amadurecida e pronta para novos desafios. As muitas coisas que sofreu a ajudavam a pensar também nos menos favorecidos, levando-a a envolver-se em programas de ajuda a aidéticos, mutilados por minas terrestres e tantos outros para os quais a vida continuava a ser um túnel escuro.
O último túnel
Mas quando o carro que levava a mulher mais fotografada do mundo, que ainda admirava o anel de diamantes que acabara de receber de presente, entrou em um túnel sendo perseguido por fotógrafos, não havia uma saída no final. Aconteceu a tragédia, Diana não sairia daquele túnel com vida. Ela e aquele a quem amava encontraram a morte ali. Seus sonhos estavam definitivamente desfeitos.
Nos passos de Diana
Talvez você possa se identificar com a infância de Diana em um lar desfeito, com pais divorciados, ou em sua timidez de estudante. Talvez tenha visto nela a realização de seus próprios sonhos de uma mulher encontrando um príncipe. Ou quem sabe você estivesse entre as muitas que podiam se identificar com a dor e a traição que ela sofreu em seu casamento. Pode até ser que você tenha compartilhado com ela a emoção da perspectiva de um novo amor. Talvez você tenha seguido seus passos em seu coração até a entrada daquele túnel em Paris, radiante com a beleza do anel de diamantes e tudo o que significava.
Estamos prontos?
Mas e depois? Não sabemos se a morte estava em seus planos, mas teve que enfrentá-la. Poderia você se identificar com ela na morte assim como se identificou em muitos aspectos de sua vida? Poderia ter acontecido comigo ou com você. Será que eu e você estamos prontos para enfrentar a morte? Será que estamos prontos para passar desta vida para a eternidade? Isto é algo de que precisamos ter certeza de antemão. A eternidade é tempo demais, é um tempo muito grande, muito importante, para entrarmos nela despreparados.
Existe uma saída!
A boa notícia para você é que existe uma saída! Nascemos em desenfreada corrida em direção à morte e perdição eterna pelo fato de sermos pecadores. Porém Jesus Cristo tem a solução para o pecado e a morte. Dele a Bíblia afirma que “Cristo morreu, uma única vez, pelos pecados, o Justo pelos injustos, para conduzir-vos a Deus… e foi sepultado e ressuscitou ao terceiro dia, segundo as Escrituras” Ele morreu por mim e por você, levando sobre Si o castigo que nós merecíamos para que pudéssemos ficar livres da morte e condenação eterna.
Prepare-se
Como nos preparamos para a morte? Basta crer em Jesus, o Filho de Deus. Ele próprio afirmou: “Quem ouve a Minha palavra, e crê nAquele que Me enviou, tem a vida eterna, e não entrará em condenação, mas PASSOU DA MORTE PARA A VIDA”. Aceite agora mesmo Aquele que disse: “Eu vim para que tenham vida, e a tenham em abundância”.

We have all listened to fairy tales about princes and princesses when we were children. Which girl did not want to be Cinderella – the poor and despised young girl who is loved by a prince, who marries her and takes her to live in a castle, happy for ever-after. In 1982 this story seemed to become reality. A pretty and young kindergarten teacher becomes the wife of the Prince of Wales.
A past like many other girls
Many young women identified themselves with her. Coming from a broken home, living with problems like shyness and a lack of self-esteem, Diana was the image of what many women bring inside themselves. Her marriage with a Prince seemed a fairy tale. Thousands of women around the world saw in her the fulfillment of their dreams.
Betrayed, like many other women
Soon another group of women could identify with her – those who had been betrayed and despised by their own husbands. And as time went by, more women could identify with her: the depressed ones, those who had health problems and the ones who were looking for true love. And when Diana found a new love, it seemed to be the fulfillment of not only her own dream, but the dream of thousands of women who would like to be in her place.
A light at the end of the tunnel
Like thousands of her admirers, Diana was always able to find a light at the end of the dark tunnels through which she had to go and always came out, more mature and ready for new challenges. The many things she suffered helped her to care for the uncared, and led her to involvement in programs for AIDS suffers, those mutilated by land-mines, and many others to whom life was still a dark tunnel.
The last tunnel
But when the car carrying the most photographed woman in the world, still admiring the diamond ring she had just received as a gift, was chased into the tunnel by photographers, there was no way out of the other end. Tragedy struck, Diana would not come out of the tunnel alive. She and the one she loved found death there. All their dreams were forever destroyed.
In Diana’s steps
Perhaps you can identify with Diana’s childhood in a broken home from divorced parents, or in her shyness when at school. You might had seen in her the fulfillment of your own dreams of a woman finding a prince. Or perhaps you were one of many who could identify with the grief and betrayal she suffered in her marriage. It might even be that you shared her excitement at the prospect of a new love. Perhaps you had followed her steps in your own heart up to that tunnel’s entrance in Paris, delighted with the beauty of the diamond ring and all it meant.
Are we ready?
But what about then? We don’t know if death was in her plans, but she had to face it. Could you identify yourself with her in death as you did in many aspects of her life? It could have happened to you and me. Are we ready to face death? Are we ready to pass from this life into eternity? This is something we must know for sure beforehand. Eternity is too long, too big, too important, to enter unprepared.
There is a way out!
The good news for you is that there is a way out! We were born driving madly towards death and everlasting punishment because we are sinners. But Jesus Christ has the solution for sin and death. The Bible states about Him that “Christ also has once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God… and He was buried, and rose again the third day, according to the Scriptures.” He died for you and me, taking on Himself the punishment we deserved so we could be free from death and everlasting punishment.
Be prepared
How can we be prepared for death? It is enough to trust in Jesus, the Son of God. He said: “He that hear My word, and believe on Him that sent Me, has everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; BUT IS PASSED FROM DEATH UNTO LIFE” Accept right now the One Who said: “I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”
